We're here to prove that you can build your own boat.
...we've been doing just that since 1982.

Our primary site at duck-trap.com is down for the time being. Until we can get things squared away, you can use these ljnks to access the information that was on that site...

Duck Trap Woodworking (boats, plans, tools, and hardware)

Duck Trap Decoys (just what it sounds like)

Note: both of these are offsite links, so you will need to use a bookmark or your browser's back button to return here.

This is an interum solution, as we plan to be back on duck-trap.com soon,

We publish Walter Simmons' books and CDs, all of which emanate from his boat shop at Duck Trap, and his desire to pass along boatbuilding information and practice he has been perfecting for decades. A boatbuilder and repairer since 1970, with nearly 200 boats to his credit, he writes from long experience. The designs in his catalogue are among the prettiest traditional boats on the water, and it's his goal to teach you to build them as well.

This is the first Christmas Wherry designed and built by the author. Others are currently being built
in several US locations, in the UK, the Netherlands, Germany, and in New South Wales.
She's proving to be a very versatile and popular design, and we offer a CD that details the construction
of this very boat. Click here to learn more about the Christmas Wherry.

New book alert:

Lapstrake Boatbuilding was first published in 1978. Since that time there have been three editions. L apstrake Boatbuilding 2, was published several years afterwards, and similarly underwent changes. Now both books have been combined into a single book...the 30th Anniversary Edition of Lapstrake Boatbuilding. But more than just combining the two, it has been thoroughly updated and nearly doubled in size. This is Lapstrake Boatbuilding with 30 years of boatbuilding experience added...

Lapstrake Boatbuilding book jacket
